Legacy of Hope Foundation — known for addressing basic needs — will renovate a new education and empowerment center in Newport News to expand job training, youth development, and financial literacy classes.
It is raising $100,000 in donations and calling on community partners to help break the local cycle of poverty.
Soundscapes honored Newport News Public Schools and the City on Feb.
21 at the Marriott at City Center during the Soundscapes Gala by presenting its Community Partner Award. Dr. Michele Mitchell and school board leaders accepted the honor, highlighting a long-standing collaboration that supports after-school arts programs for students and families.
