ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A motorcyclist died after a crash near Jefferson Avenue and Main Street early Thursday morning+ the driver of the other vehicle was not injured+ and police in Newport News are investigating the incident.  13News Now

  • Lobstah King's food truck brings fresh Northeastern seafood to Newport News where owner Avery Belton and his family serve lobster rolls and lobster mac and cheese—sourced directly from Maine—at a regular stop at Dean and Don's Farm Market. The business began as a hot dog cart and now also offers catering at local pop-up events.  13News Now

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Local education experts and a Hampton Roads nonprofit warn that planned U.S. Department of Education staff cuts may reduce support for at-risk students, including those with special needs and housing instability. The cuts could undermine federal aid to Virginia public schools, which receive about one in eight dollars from federal funding—officials say—adding uncertainty to future program support.  13News Now

  • WAVY News 10 Today is featuring the USS Kearsarge in its Navy Ship Salute series and the ship based at Naval Station Norfolk now has a new flight deck to carry F-35 jets and upgraded radar and weapons. The ship holds about 3,000 Navy and Marine crew—its commanding officer said they work together on key missions.  WAVY
  • A federal judge in San Francisco ordered the immediate reinstatement of thousands of probationary workers, including over 1,400 from the Hampton VA, after mass firings last month. A local veteran who worked for 10 months received a shocking 'TERMINATED' email—she has not been contacted about her return while she stays informed about the case.  WTKR

SPORTS NEWS

  • Newport News native Madison Whyte returns to compete at the NCAA Division I Indoor Championships at Virginia Beach Sports Center, where she will run in the 200 meter dash and 4x400 relay—one of only 16 qualifiers in each event. Ranked 6th in the 200, she will advance to finals on Saturday—if she finishes in the top eight on Friday.  13News Now
