- ➤ Authorities in James City County said one person died after an Amtrak train struck a Toyota Highlander that crossed the tracks at Peach Street around 4:30 on Monday afternoon, and no train passengers were hurt as crews worked on repairs causing extended delays. WTKR

- ➤ Hampton police responded to a shooting on the 400 block of Michigan Drive Monday morning—where a man suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to a hospital. WAVY
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Adm. Daryl Caudle, U.S. Fleet Forces Commander, said the Navy uses artificial intelligence for managing personnel records, equipment readiness & sorting data to support deployment preparations. He added that the Ford will deploy to the U.S. 6th Fleet area in the summer. WTKR
- ➤ The Norfolk-based USS Gravely—recently returned from fighting Houthis in the Red Sea—departed Naval Weapons Station Yorktown to deploy in support of U.S. southern border protection. U.S. Fleet Forces Commander Adm. Daryl Caudle said the ship will soon conduct intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance missions to help stop transnational criminal trafficking. WTKR
