Hampton Roads-based Tidal Flight will invest $538K to expand its Chesapeake operations at Chesapeake Regional Airport to develop a hybrid-electric seaplane that cuts fuel use and noise.

The project will add six jobs and is backed by state funding for cleaner coastal travel.

Nearly 350+ students from over 40+ universities are racing electric and autonomous boats in Hampton Roads this week as part of an Office of Naval Research program that trains future naval workers.

The public is invited to watch the competition, which runs through April 16.
