CRIME NEWS

  • Police are serving warrants to an armed individual barricaded in a home in the 7700 block on Roanoke Avenue—off Mercury Boulevard, while officers with the Tactical Operations Unit respond to reports of roadblocks between 77th and 79th streets and multiple SWAT vehicles seen at the scene.  13News Now

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Students from Denbigh High School Aviation Academy partnered with NASA to build and inspect lockers that are now used on the International Space Station. They checked every part carefully and signed the lockers—each step helping them learn skills that match real-world space work.  Newport News Public Schools

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Today, flags are at half-staff in Virginia to honor 32 students and professors killed in the 2007 Virginia Tech shooting, per Governor Glenn Youngkin's order to lower flags at sunrise until sunset. A ceremonial candle will be lit at midnight and a wreath-laying ceremony plus a moment of silence are scheduled at 9:43 a.m.—Virginia Tech will read the victims' names as the candle remains lit for 24 hours.  13News Now
