Newport News Public Schools students swept the awards at the annual Canstructure Competition on April 25 at Patrick Henry Mall, where teams built innovative art from donated canned food (benefiting the Foodbank of the Virginia Peninsula); winners include Achievable Dream Academy with 5,168 cans, Saunders Elementary, Gildersleeve Middle, and Menchville High School.

NNPS students from Discovery STEM Academy and Richneck Elementary took part in the All-Virginia Elementary Chorus on April 25 at J.R.

Tucker High School in Henrico County. Music educators Zachary Erhard (DSA) and Jon Sims led the 21st annual event hosted by the Virginia Elementary Music Educators Association.
