CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A man with known warrants was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries after he ran two red lights and crashed near Tabb Lane & Warwick Boulevard while trying to evade officers; a 28-year-old woman in the other vehicle received non-life-threatening injuries and he faces future charges for arson, strangulation and simple assault. - ➤ Brian Darden, who performs as BD.ii and graduated from Phoebus High School, performed in Monday night’s playoff rounds of NBC’s The Voice as part of John Legend’s team, where three of five performers were eliminated. WAVY

- ➤ Sanford Elementary School Principal Dr. Edward Van Dyke was honored with the 2024-2025 Virginia PTA Power Partners award for strengthening family-school partnerships, as announced May 2 by Virginia PTA. - ➤ Governor Glenn Youngkin vetoed a contraception access bill and a bill to remove tax exemptions for Confederate organizations, saying the former lacked needed conscience clause protections and the latter would set an improper precedent—remarks he made during his review. He also signed bipartisan laws that limit how long minors under 16 can use social media and hold fentanyl dealers accountable if their drugs lead to an overdose death. WAVY
