- ➤ The Virginia DMV warns residents about scam texts saying you owe money on unpaid fines—scammers urge quick payment and include links even though the DMV never sends such texts. WTKR
- ➤ A tractor trailer driver fell asleep and crashed his truck on I-64 eastbound near Oyster Point Road at 3:34 a.m.—he was arrested on charges of reckless driving and failure to maintain proper control, and lanes remain open though delays may occur. WTKR
- ➤ A 30 year old man named David Anderson was arrested Monday, June 2 on a first degree murder charge after the body of 28 year old Imani Parrish was found on the 600 block of Antrim Drive on April 30—police said blunt force trauma to her head caused her death. WAVY
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The school system will require clear backpacks for all students for the 2025-2026 school year—families must supply backpacks that are fully transparent and meet strict design rules. Community partners will help families who need donated backpacks. Newport News Public Schools
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ As summer break nears, law enforcement officials in Hampton Roads remind parents to supervise unattended minors while safe activities are arranged.
