- ➤ A man was sentenced to over 19 years in jail for attempting to meet a minor for sex when he, under a false online identity, sent explicit images and asked to meet someone posing as a 13-year-old girl — court documents show he previously was convicted of sexual offenses — he was taken into custody when he arrived at the meeting location. - ➤ Old Dominion University professors Bob McNab and Vinod Agarwal told a Holiday Inn audience Friday morning that shifting policies and trade issues are slowing U.S. and Virginia growth while Hampton Roads may grow more due to rising defense spending. They warned that high mortgage rates will make buying a home more difficult in the coming months — and advised households to review their budgets. WAVY

- ➤ The federal government froze international student visa interviews and mandated social media vetting for foreign students, a change that experts warn will hurt Virginia universities both academically and financially.
