- ➤ With students leaving school for summer, local food banks report that hunger will rise, especially for children who rely on school meals & one in four children may go hungry during the warmer months. The Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia starts its summer programs in January to help fill the gap as families, including many new ones, begin to line up for assistance. WAVY

- ➤ Navy Culinary Specialist Angelina Resendiz, a 21-year-old from Mexia, Texas, disappeared from Naval Station Norfolk on May 29 while carrying a black and purple backpack as her mother and family call for more transparency in the investigation (NCIS has issued a Critically Missing Adult Alert). 13News Now

- ➤ A report from the University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science said the Chesapeake Bay dropped to a C grade after record high temperatures and intense rainfall increased nutrient runoff—scientists noted long-term gains like improved dissolved oxygen and aquatic grasses, though water clarity and chlorophyll levels continued to decline. They warned that ongoing extreme weather will further stress fish and shellfish in the bay. WAVY
