Boys and Girls Clubs of Southeast Virginia said a federal freeze on over $6 billion in grants may endanger after-school programs for kids while forcing some clubs to consider closing.

Kevin Will said that without the 21st Century Community Learning Center funds up to 14 clubs in Virginia could close—he stressed that after-school care is vital for homework help and healthy meals.

A driver breached the perimeter at Joint Base Langley-Eustis on Thursday morning and was arrested—no injuries occurred and base security with Hampton Police managed the situation while nearby gates handled traffic delays.
