ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • The Newport News Fire Department is investigating an overnight fire at Southern Acura Newport News on Jefferson Avenue that began at 1:45 a.m.—firefighters controlled the heavy blaze with no injuries and investigators are determining its cause.  WAVY

CRIME NEWS

  • Newport News Police say eight residents reported car damage and three calls about alarms and break-ins at Warwick Village Apartments on the 400 block of Nelson Drive, with suspects reportedly smashing windows—mostly on Kias and Hyundais—while officers increased patrols and canvassed the area.  WAVY

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The USS George H.W. Bush—named to honor the 41st president's naval service and legacy—displays artifacts that show his time as a naval aviator, including records from his early career and combat missions. The ship’s coat of arms features symbols like a yellow TBF Avenger to highlight its deep ties to naval aviation history.  WAVY
