- ➤ Newport News Police responded at 3:00 p.m. Monday to a shooting at the zero block of Traverse Lane—officers found a man with life-threatening injuries from a gunshot wound and he was pronounced dead at a local hospital while the investigation continues. WAVY
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Hampton Roads Transit will host two Student Freedom Pass Palooza events to help teens aged 13-17 learn to use local transit services. Sign-ups will take place at Hampton High School on Aug 7 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and at the YMCA on Granby in Norfolk on Aug 9 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. + HRT’s new Student Transit Riders Commission will guide students on trip planning.
