- ➤ Hampton police reported a shooting at the West Mercury Boulevard and North Armistead Avenue intersection on Wednesday night that led to a multi-vehicle crash—unknown suspects exited a car and fired at another, causing one vehicle to show gunfire damage though no one was injured. WTKR

- ➤ Newport News Public Schools held a graduation ceremony on August 5 at Heritage High School where 51 summer graduates from five high schools received their diplomas. School Board Chairman Terri Best, Superintendent Michele Mitchell, and Director of High School Leadership Eleanor Blowe praised the students for overcoming challenges and noted their perseverance marks a meaningful start for the future — a proud moment for the local community.
