ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Leaders released a revised Chesapeake Bay Watershed Agreement for public input until September 1 — the plan sets new targets to improve water quality and restore wildlife habitats and will be reviewed by the Management Board in October. The agreement aims to guide restoration efforts and community engagement as officials address pollution and habitat loss.  13News Now
  • Dominion Energy crews are working around the clock as Hurricane Erin nears our area and expect most power outages on Thursday. Crews are reinforcing power poles and stockpiling equipment in Kitty Hawk — preparations to address flooding, fallen trees and wind gusts in coastal regions.  WTKR

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • A poll from Roanoke College shows that Abigail Spanberger’s lead in the governor’s race has shrunk to 7 points over Winsome Earle-Sears — with Spanberger at 46% and Earle-Sears at 39% — down from a 17-point margin seen in May. The poll also finds that races for lieutenant governor and attorney general are very close, and Election Day is November 4.  13News Now
