Newport News Public Schools has used strong teaching methods and clear support to boost scores on the Standards of Learning tests – Greenwood Elementary improved by up to 21 percentage points in math and science – and the district will share more results when state scores are released soon.

Newport News City Council approved a $400M Navy plan to expand military housing downtown with 750 new units—this project will replace old buildings and add retail space.

Construction will begin in the spring or summer next year, and the project will be built in two phases to include amenities like a gym and food services.
