  • Newport News will appear on The Great Food Truck Race, airing Sunday, Sept. 7 at 9 p.m. on Food Network. Earlier filming at Port Warwick and Victory Landing Park saw local food trucks including Nishaan, Good Fortune Co., and Cooking with Que compete for a $50,000 prize — showcasing the city's growing culinary talent.  13News Now

  • York-Poquoson Sheriff's Office arrested 47-year-old Billy Ray Brown in Yorktown after a local children's hospital reported that a young girl had been assaulted repeatedly—he now faces felony charges of indecent liberties with a child and forcible sodomy with additional charges pending.  13News Now

SPORTS NEWS

  • Newport News Public Schools now provides livestreaming of football and field hockey games at Todd Stadium through the NFHS Network—subscribers can also use cell phones or computers and more high school gym events will stream when basketball starts this winter. Director of Student Athletics Lee Martin said cameras will be added in all high school gyms over the next several weeks.  Newport News Public Schools
