🎓 Education
Newport News Public Schools held an update on October 23 at Hines Middle School to discuss transportation, zoning and Magnet and Specialty Programs.
Community members can give feedback by completing an online survey in English or Spanish by noon on October 29 — officials said new changes have reduced bus routes and saved travel miles.
🌲 Environment
The James River got a grade of B in its 2025 report, showing that while water quality is better upstream, tidal areas near Hampton Roads still have problems with low water quality and fewer oysters and grasses.
Experts said climate change and pollution make it hard to fix the river—calling for more investment and community work to help it reach an A.
