- ➤ On November 7, Booker T. Washington Middle School hosted Oyster Day for its Marine Science Magnet program where sixth graders learned about oysters and the Chesapeake Bay through rotating learning stations. Students built oyster cages (33 finished cages will be donated to an oyster gardening program) and local experts from the Virginia Aquarium and Marine Police explained oyster harvesting techniques and waterway laws (one station featured an engineering challenge using simple materials).
