Newport News City Council approved $3 million in surplus funds for a music festival set for Memorial Day weekend 2026 at multiple downtown sites.
The Port Warwick Foundation & a promoter will reveal the lineup by March 6 and begin ticket sales on March 20.
🎓 Education
All Newport News Public Schools are fully accredited under Virginia’s new assessment model for the 2025-2026 school year as graduation rates rose to 97.26% from 93.56% last year.
Three elementary schools earned a Distinguished rating plus many schools improved attendance and reduced federal support needs.
Newport News Public Schools robotics teams competed at Crittenden Middle School on Dec.
6, earning awards for robot design, innovation project, and other honors. All teams will join the NNPS & CNU STEM Community Day on May 30 at Christopher Newport University's Freeman Center.
