About this event

Sentara Health will be providing take-home Colorectal FIT KITs. Colon cancer is now the leading cause of cancer in men under 50 and the 2nd leading cause in women of the same age. The lifetime risk of developing a colon cancer is 1 in 23 for men and 1 in 25 for women. Early detection for colon cancer is crucial. Screening can start at the age of 45. Did you know: Hampton Roads is one of the three national "hot spots" for colon cancer in the United States. Sentara encourages men and women to take charge of their health and seek timely screenings to ultimately improve health outcomes related to colon cancer.

The Colorectal FIT KIT is a take-home stool test that checks for blood in stool, which can be a sign of precancerous polyps or colorectal cancer. Sentara will provide a take-home FIT KIT and a pre-paid mailing envelope to eligible individuals. This screening test does not bill insurance.
